BUILDING OVERVIEW: The complex consists of 87 housing units within two separate buildings: one 7-story high-rise and one 2-story low-rise.

​There is a beautifully landscaped courtyard and a well-lit, on-site parking area. Within the building is a community room that is used to host monthly membership meetings and other activities. Income restrictions apply and rental subsidies are available.

ON-SITE MANAGEMENT: The management team is on-site to address your concerns. The office is open Tuesday and Thursday, 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. ​There is a full-time Maintenance Technician on-site 5 days per week and emergency calls are handled immediately.

The owner, Seabury Cooperative, Inc., is a non-profit corporation governed by a Board of Directors who are active in the affairs and management of the property.

How to join

A different kind of homeownership. Unlike condominium owners, cooperative members do not individually own the units they occupy. Instead, they own shares that entitle them to occupy their units. Membership fee is only $1,500 and is returned when members leave in good standing. ​Income restrictions apply and rental subsidies are available.

Oak Park Commons Cohousing – Plan to Move in Fall 2025

Illinois’ first cohousing community fosters intergenerational connection, diversity, and inclusiveness. We welcome all those who share our vision of creating a sustainable residential community in a vibrant urban suburb. Oak Park Commons Cohousing seeks new members. Join the dozen households that have already helped plan and design a five story, 24-unit building near the commercial heart of Oak Park, Illinois. The building includes a mix of one, two, and three, bedroom ADA accessible units. A package friendly first floor mailroom adjoins the lobby, elevator, and parking entrances. Noise mitigation and energy efficient air conditioning assure year-round comfort. The Carpenter & Madison streets corner location includes within a pedestrian friendly half mile radius: a middle school, bus stop, grocery co-op, drug store, bank, CTA train station, Unity Temple, Rush Hospital, Fox Park, Mills Park, and many restaurants. Madison has traffic calming and bike lanes.
