The Wise Acres Community is a cohousing neighborhood in Kitsap County, started in 1990. We steward most of the land together, while each maintaining our own home. In Wise Acres, we gather for community dinners and other events. We tend a shared garden, common house, hot tub & sauna. We look out for each other, make decisions by consensus, and each take on a community job. The community is walking distance from the shore in a friendly town. A 1-bedroom apartment is available. The apartment is the daylight basement below the main level of the house. The kitchen/living/dining room has a large picture window and natural light from above. The bedroom has an attached bathroom and a modest walk-in closet. Adjoining the full kitchen is a separate storage / laundry room. At about 600 sq ft, the apartment works great for a smaller household. In addition, there’s a room available in the main part of the house. The common spaces in the house are shared, including the kitchen/dining room and sun-lit living room with wood stove. The bedroom has windows on two sides and an attached bathroom. Four-day in-person program June 4-7, 2026 Experience Weekend immerses you in the living laboratory that is Earthaven Ecovillage. Earthaven is the ideal setting for a whole-life skills curriculum — a place to see regenerative systems in practice, collaborative food production in action, and community living on a personal level. You’ll connect with the people, businesses, and farms of Earthaven and our extended valley community for a hands-on, skill-building, life-changing experience. The Experience Weekend curriculum encourages participants to examine sustainability through social, ecological, economic, and eco-spiritual lenses. Through tours, large-group discussions, classes with community members, shared meals, and time to explore the land on your own, this learning journey gives you an intimate experience of the ecovillage. Program participants form a nested community within the village by sharing meals, social activities, their experiences, and hearth-tending tasks. Many participants come to the program during or while preparing for a life transition — questioning aspects of their current lifestyle and curious about their options and learning what’s possible. Others come to the program for a retreat from their daily life — a chance to be in a different place around curious and enthusiastic people while enjoying tasty, wholesome meals prepared by someone else. Ellis Street Community House is seeking kind, present, and engaged new housemates with experience in community living. We are currently 3 adults and one baby living in a 6 bedroom, 3 bath house on ¼ acre of land near Powell Butte nature park and the Springwater Corridor bike trail. For us, living in community is a collaborative process, one that helps improve our quality of life. We’re able to eat great food, keep the place clean, maintain a garden, and hold a space large enough to host guests and events by working together. We have an extensive community library and art/craft material collection, as well as a great tea selection, stocked pantry, and functional kitchens ready for feast-making, canning, and fermentation dreams. We make kombucha, ginger beer, sauerkraut, bone broth, natto, and apple/pear butter on a rotating basis. With two fridges and two deep freezers we can save blueberries and blackberries we harvested from close by and get meat directly from farmers. We hold potlucks and other events like bonfires and game nights about once a month, and make a house dinner together weekly. We maintain a home free from artificial fragrances and voice-activated technology. The large downstairs room is available for $740 per month. It is next to the back door with zero steps to entry. We have another room upstairs that is available for $700 per month for one person or $800 for a parent and child. Guest space is available for friends and relatives of residents – upstairs there is an office/guest room for longer visits, and the couches/pads in the common areas are available for shorter stays. The home has heating and cooling through an efficient heat pump, and we just upgraded to a tankless water heater. Utilities usually run around $100 per month. We also share expenses for groceries and cleaning supplies, you’ll receive reimbursement for groceries if you go shopping often, or contribute typically $50-75 per month if you don’t go shopp
