What we do

Unique Opportunity for house share in established intentional community!
We are a pedestrian village with open green space and a central Common House, within walking distance of schools, the public library, medical clinics, shopping, parks, and a public pool.
We are located on 5 acres in the Winslow district of the City of Bainbridge Island, Washington, one mile from the ferry, which is a 35-minute boat ride from downtown Seattle. Bainbridge Island is a small-but-growing town with about 23,000 residents.
Our community has 30 homes:
10 townhouse duplexes with 2, 3, and 4-bedroom homes
A fourplex with 1 and 2 bedroom townhouse homes
The Carriage House with 6 flats of varied sizes
Homes range from 518 to 1500 square feet. Floor plans are similar throughout the village. The duplex and fourplex homes have exclusive use areas (backyards) behind them, with all kitchens facing the walkways, courtyards, and green areas where children can play and neighbors can visit or stroll.
An integral part of the cohousing concept is our centrally located 5,000 square foot community Common House. The Common House has dining and meeting space, a large kitchen, a recreation room for children, a fully equipped community office, a guest room, a quiet space, an exercise area, and a laundry for those who do not want laundry facilities in their homes.
We have a children’s playground, a large open lawn, a basketball area, a pottery studio, and a woodworking workshop. An orchard flourishes near the large, sunny community garden providing varieties of apples, pears, plums, and figs.
Like many intentional communities Winslow Cohousing has faced strife, difficulty, and loss in the face of the pandemic and it’s aftermath. We have been working as a community with Kitsap Dispute Resolution Center since July of 2023, and are focused on rebuilding our community together. As we reshape our organization and honor our values, we are hopeful for new community members to join us in our rebuild.

mini community

laundry on site no smoking off-street parking I am looking for someone (or possibly a couple) with construction skills/basic home knowledge (and likes to garden), who can help me transform my property to be more useful…look up “the self-sufficient backyard” online. My husband an I are both 60 but he is on disability-physical pain issues and legally blind the past 4 years. We have an 18 tear old nonverbal DS son, and are both Christians. We need someone who is low-key, has references, a solid work ethic and transportation…excess belongings will require storage. The house is old and needs to have a few issues fixed. There is a room available while a tiny house/livable shed you would build to stay in is done but you would have use of the house kitchen and bathroom. I will want to add more small buildings (as can fit) and greenhouses to share produce with each other, the town and for sale. I would be paying for the materials of coarse but I want to be frugal and look for stuff at re-use it centers and design to best usage. The town is within 30-40 minutes of Salina/McPherson/Hutchinson that have more employment opportunities if you are someone from out of the area. I will explain more details to a seriously interested party. This is for someone who needs to cut expenses and/or use his or her skills to barter for a place to live, possibly some food, and nothing else, (like anything sexual)…I found I needed to make that clear! Other options can be discussed such as co-ownership or???.
