We hope to become a thriving community centered around local food and organic farming that feeds our region, increases food resiliency and food sovereignty while also building affordable housing for our members in an eco-village setting. This cooperative is in its early stages and we are recruiting members who wish to join in this vision. A moderately successful farm and food business is already established with markets both direct and wholesale, with lots of opportunities for members to explore further. When members join, they get shared ownership of the land and the farm businesses, and a leased plot of land in the eco-village to build a home on.
Our initial vision for the members of the cooperative is simple: to grow and thrive while feeding our Adirondack and Champlain Valley communities.
The ideal members would be people who care about food sovereignty, that want to farm organically, produce good food with integrity and bring their unique skills together in a collaborative format, with individual home ownership in an eco-village setting, with full participation in the decision-making process and future of the collective. Since we are just forming, members (essentially co-founders) will have to determine for themselves if this is a good fit for their needs.
Everyone must agree before moving forward.
