We are a group of diverse folks who share land in rural New Brunswick, Canada. Our family/individual homesteads are each 2- 2.5 acres in size, and we have 15 homesteading lots and 4 special land use zones, one of which has a community learning centre / forest school operating. We currently reside on privately held land, but are moving towards having the land’s deed held by a not-for-profit entity. The rural neighbourhood we live in, both on and off the land share initiative, has grown considerably since we began, and now there are over 70 humans (from newborns to elders) living in proximity, creating a loose-knit rural community of multiple ages, cultures, and ethnicities. We are not a static event, but are growing and changing and adapting to each other, through time. There is messiness, and lots of goodwill, in our human relations and endeavours. We are all on a journey of discovery. It is amazing to watch unfold.
Sharing land, freely.
We ask prospective members to alert the group, at a monthly meeting, of your intention to join, then you are asked to live one year in the local area before having access to a hectare of land.
Everyone must agree before moving forward.
Members maintain separate personal finances with minimal sharing.
