About the Community

What we do

We started by exploring a model of community living that could provide for people’s residential needs while also connecting them to their agricultural roots. This research produced the agrivillage concept we are now building. We are forming a cohousing-style residential community in Western Washington on 240 acres of mixed-use agricultural land and forest with plenty of opportunities for resident-run farm enterprises. We currently have more than a dozen homes reserved by households who are passionate about community living, ecological stewardship, and farmland conservation – but there are more membership spaces available. You do not need to be a farmer or plan on running an agricultural business to join our community! We have state-approved water rights and the county has approved our preliminary plat. We are looking for more home-owners and working on construction documents and site work permits.

Our Mission

Rooted Northwest is a residential community in western Washington designed for healthy living, connecting with nature and one another, and member-run microenterprises, all within the context of the permaculture ethics of earth care, people care, and fair shares.
