The Romero House community welcomes refugee claimants with housing, immigration, and settlement support. Our model is unique in that staff and volunteers live alongside people going through the refugee process, together as good neighbours.
The Romero House community welcomes refugee claimants with housing, immigration, and settlement support.
People interested in living in the community as House Coordinators complete an application form, participate in interviews, and do a trial period of three months.
Decisions proceed unless someone has a reasoned objection.
Primary authority rests with the community’s founder(s) or designated leader(s).
Members maintain separate personal finances with minimal sharing.
Common House, Garden(s), Vehicle Share, Library, Workshop, Outbuilding(s), Gym or sports area, Internet, Each house has a shared common room, garden and laundry. One house has a shared kitchen, washroom, living room (with a small library), and dining room. We have many tools available for use, basketball net, rooftop garden, paved backyard for events that can be covered with a tarp.
Within city limits with access to urban amenities and infrastructure.
