What we do

There are sites nearby of multiple acres that I visualize as superb for an ecovillage.

Pandemic safety practices are expected. I’m glad to be vaccinated.

We are developing a vision and partnerships toward sustainability and resilience for our small patch of our neighborhood (i.e., Willard Park neighborhood’s Green Picket Fences green zone).

Interested in living in a shed/tiny house? Rob Greenfield’s video very much reflects work I would like to carry out. See https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hr5s0ps9rAQ&feature=share&fbclid=IwAR1KlGj-vOcJ4PLHDH-C4rRmnJY5OXDbDUPIru2Ybsar8qHKZNCEzUiLbGI .

There are many things for many people out here. The location is a 10 minute bike ride to Downtown Indianapolis. Our neighborhood, Willard Park, has public parks and private woods. Older housing (houses & multi-units) is for rent and for sale. Greg is willing to help obtain housing in bedrooms in shared housing units, apartments and houses.

Our neighborhood is undergoing development and we ecologically minded would like to implement ecological practices. Of ongoing concern to Greg is how to make the neighborhood better without the negatives that can come with change.

The physical boundaries of the community are broader than building’s site. Nearby is Fruit Loop Acres farm and Basic Roots Community Foods distribution, and a community garden. Kay Grimm, owner of Basic Roots, is aiming to start a hostel with barter as a facet of payment.

By the way, Joe Werle runs Phoenix Urban Farm https://www.facebook.com/Steward-Owner-at-Phoenix-Urban-Farm-586675191395902/ .

Current projects:
– development of Phoenix Place, a mixed use site for housing and commerce with values for community, equity and the ecosystem;
– minor building repair and maintenance;
– food forest development, and
– mutual support (e.g., facilitating one each others goals, barter, finding nearby housing for quality neighbors).

Additional concerns:

  • finding eco-buyers for nearby housing,
  • bringing in and starting businesses, and
  • founding an ecovillage at one of the nearby sites of multiple acres.
  • Permaculturalists, yardners, and foraging experts are very welcome. Also, fundraising activity is invited to enhance the economic, agricultural and ecological activity. WWOOFers (World Wide Opportunities on Organic Farms) are encouraged to consider collaborating here; shelter and food can be worked out.
