What we do

Inter-generational and friendly
The look of our village is evolving as members build their houses. We have natural builds, standard designs and tiny houses. There is a good mix of communal and private space.

Demonstration
Our village and our processes have become a showcase and teaching ground for interested visitors. We endeavour to inspire others to live more lightly on the earth and show that it is possible without compromising a comfortable, mainstream lifestyle.

Village
We are building a thriving, diverse community of 300+ people of all ages (currently over 100 live on site). The layout encourages neighbourly interaction while respecting people’s privacy – we have a strong sense of belonging.

Some people with homes in our village work from home rent an office in the village or work part-time in the city.

Narara
Our village is located at Narara, a little over an hour north of Sydney and 30 minutes from the coast. We are building positive and inclusive relationships with our neighbours, other parts of Australia and the World.

Eco-sustainability
We will live in harmony with nature, preserving natural habitats on village land and build homes with minimal environmental impact which consider orientation, thermal mass, planting for privacy and temperature control, insulation, energy efficiency and environmentally friendly materials, as well as eco-friendly water supply, power, drainage, garbage disposal and recycling.

Good health
Our village actively promotes physical, emotional and spiritual well-being. We pursue activities and facilities to develop good health. These will develop and change over time, and include both residents and guests.

Business
We aim to develop a business centre to encourage and nurture enterprises set up in our village – so that people can live, work and play here.

Caring
We plan is to establish a system of caring so that you will know what will happen in the event of a dramatic life change, e.g. your partner should die, you become dependently sick, you have an accident, you need permanent care or you need temporary assistance. We aim to develop a system of caring that will be agreed upon, documented and implemented.

Other options that may evolve
We will set up flexible systems to oversee the necessary changes to our evolving village and to encourage ongoing, fresh initiative and enterprise. We will support a diversity of activities, new thoughts and perspectives to keep the energy of the village alive.

Permaculture Community Opportunity

Welcome to Havn Hill and Discovery Culture, a serene and sustainable retreat center nestled in the rainshadow of Washington’s Olympic Peninsula. This organic, ecological, permaculture-based retreat center and farm is a sanctuary for individuals looking to reconnect with the rhythms of the natural world. We are a tiny house permaculture homestead and community. Recently we have become a retreat center hosting the public. We are blessed to steward an amazing 10 acres with second growth forest and 2 year round streams. We do forestry, orcharding, poultry raising, gardening, superfood production, maple tapping, nursery work, herb growing, and park like landscaping. We host community here in various forms. We are strong entrepreneurs manifesting ways to generate abundance. We are very connected to our incredible regional community and often host events like apple pressing and cider production. Lots of projects are underway and planned for the future. The most recent one came to a conclusion last autumn. It is a stunning eco-conscious community bath house, complete with a wood fired sauna and ozone hot tub. Next up on our agenda is a tropical greenhouse and wood yurt temple and yoga deck. Nestled within the lush landscapes of Washington State, our organic, ecological retreat center stands as a testament to the harmonious coexistence between nature and human endeavor. Embracing the principles of permaculture, our haven is a sanctuary where sustainability, mindfulness, and ecological stewardship converge to create a unique and rejuvenating experience. We have a 2 story large tiny house for sale on our property. It is complete with a large cedar deck boasting a great view. It is hooked up to our septic system, electrical, internet, and well water. It was built 1.5 years ago on site using German building science and materials, metal framing, a tiny house chassis, and local woods. 3 large skylights in the ceiling are amazing. The bath room is spacious and boasts
