Thai people can own land in Thailand, but this is not the case for foreigners. Building an intentional community allows us to set up a legal structure that will allow us to own our homes.
Many of us foreigners who have lived in and loved Thailand for many years would like a way to grow roots here. We are – by nature – a very eclectic bunch, from dozens of countries, differently-aged, with different family situations, different spiritual paths… Some of us are just starting a family, others are retired – but all of us were travelers and nomads at some point and feel that it is time to settle. We have all felt the isolation and disconnection from living in WEIRD (Western, Educated, Industrialized, Rich and Democratic) countries AND leaving them, our families and our cultures behind.
Because of our built-in diversity, we emphatically refuse to make political or religious alignment the foundation of our community. Instead, we aim for the feel of Southern French villages, with support, solidarity and neighborliness as our core values. We have a preference for people who cultivate their inner selves and ‘do the work’ – therapy, meditation, emotional awareness development etc.
Because we have no outside funding, we are prioritizing people who can bring funds to the project, although we would like to have renters in the future
We aim to create an extended family of sorts, with ownership and roots, based upon the values of participation, harmony and holistic health
