About the Community

What we do

Group forming to explore co-living in Medford, MA (central or West Medford), North Somerville, or East/Central Arlington MA.

I (Andey) am a late-60s white transgender single medical professional with experience living in a community house in college, and experience forming (but never living in) cohousing more recently. I am hoping to join with others to form a cooperative house, with move-in possibly summer of 2026. And in the meantime, to explore distributed community, sharing occasional meals and activities as context for planning meetings.

My personal ideals for the house:

-5-8-ish people

-Either 30+ or intergenerational (i.e. not predominantly college-age)

-LGBTQ-friendly and ideally racially diverse

-Vegetarian- and dog-friendly.

-Providing transitional living space for internally-displaced transgender and nonbinary people fleeing red states, or visiting Massachusetts for health care, would be great. A connection with Unitarian Universalism would be great.

I currently own a house that I could sell, and if that is true of others, then structuring as a co-op and joining assets to buy a house is a possibility.
