About the Community

What we do

Hi Everybody :) Reach out at: [email protected] (as we do not have phone service while on and/or around the property areas). +31684880967 WhatsApp Greg (most active) +31658851581 WhatsApp John Next season start possible early Januari 2025. Current upcoming goals: Overview some of our ground work / terrain preperations / dirt & dead trees placement, possibly acquire more tools and building material, do the design work and getting realistic ideas for initial larger community building. 30 by 100 by 30 feet with multiple floors and possibility of expansions on the main structure later on. We start small and build out from the centre most likely. – Possible road-trip to Argentina and Brasil. – Other possible visitors and helpers might show up during the next season / 3 months. – Local farmer, his friends and workers, local towns people, fishermen groups and various locals, border-police, forest service and tourists might show up to enjoy the access to the local natural areas – After this years spring & summer on the southern hemisphere, jumping into 2024, the prefered ‘plan’ is to return with some people to host, have new visitors again late October at the very earliest 2024. So seasons of visit can anywhere between 3 to 8 months per year. – Mid to longer term goals would be to have similar properties in maybe 2 other south american and/or other continent to maintain minimalistic stability for survival and continues spring summer autumns seasons. We are a group of European/Dutch people, that see themselves as communal & open-minded people. Even more so, we are looking to have spiritually larger peaceful family and community. We started to stick to these ideas from a very early age and became more real a decade+ ago. We as founders and owners of this project are 36 and 40 years old. We have a 6 year old son. Our dream is to practice communal living combined with offering travelers and members a space for being and a peaceful natural environment to allow them to relax and be themselves in relation to the natural forces larger than ourselves. By providing less input and distractions that we have grown a bit too used to in modern society. The quality and remoteness of the Patagonian environment will instantly help you with this. In fact our place should become a real holiday feel, a retreat, a back to basic and ‘helpful’ environment by not having to focus only on work. There is no entree fee or application nor any organisation or religion behind our intentions. Human to human is preferred. Honesty and the truth will lead the way. We are pro-land sharing. Any human being willing to live with us long term for various seasons can become a guardian or even an owner of a plot of land in exchange for an honest arrangement. Investors are more than welcome. The vision behind starting fresh and focused on truth is our general concept that the overall technological, social and mental noise from many places in the world is not making people happy, healthy or productive in their lives. It does not bring them enough connection with a purpose. Some do find this pleasant or tolerable, but for the others we want to offer them a creative alternative and do our part to care for the world. We want to offer our humanistic part in the solution to this worldly problem of being over stimulated. Whether those views are shared and in tune with us is not of the greatest importance, just the realization that it is an option and our choice to live like that. We would welcome any respectful spirit and worker on our journey. Our natural spot to offer a place to calm the mind enough so that that person can choose to overview sustainable concepts for body and soul for themselves will be good enough. For your consideration :) Do enjoy some of our back story: Flora saved up money by doing scientific research while Greg assisted her career and lived a minimalist life-style. Allowing us to travel the world, prepare ourselves and buy land for people to come live on for free in exchange for some work. We want to emphasize the importance of finding a good energy together to work from. Meaning, the 2 founders will not seek to take the position of a leader-role too much, but that of a guide to show the place around and give further explanations on what we feel is the best way forward. Various jobs can be done, although, a good and long conversation can be seen as a work-day too, where you put in a mental effort. We won’t be horrible bosses and the work can be easy if you can’t handle a lot. NOTICEABLY this might sound somewhat vague, so we work by principles of least resistance and permaculture. The more logical a design or thought, the easier it is to use. We rather not be too pushy as people, being non-conformist ourselves, we value your personal space and work methods. We value a lack of regulation and offer free choice what kind of work you want to be doing. Just honesty looking at what levels of activity you are looking for initially. So try and be up front about your intentions and the freedom to explore ideas. For now we apologize that the we are still in the early stages of the activities, so there is not yet a large garden for you to enjoy and maintain. Please come build one ;) Next to the start-up and pre-farm work, we can offer you all kinds of outdoor spots to come and take a quiet retreat. A place in the nature and/or in our home when it is finished. Some of the pictures will give you an idea of the surrounding. You will be free to use the many dead trees around to build your own small cabin or shelter that can be used by others over time. For any larger ideas, we would need a good permaculture design first. Do you have any experience with providing a design for an area? There are lots of big square and round rocks, we found some clay-stream deposits, straw, sand etc. At this point we only have just a few tools and building materials ready. There is one small shed build for 4 people that has a stove. There will be places for new sheds tents and tarps available and you can expect a limited set of visitors from various backgrounds during the spring, summer and autumn seasons. You can share your travel stories and views with them one on one or suggest a group activity. The only necessary scenario is that some practical things will be communal, but you can find privacy in the surrounding natural and rural areas where there is a very low population density. Because we are relatively new in Chile and on this particular spot of land, we welcome your gardening, building, maintaining, wild food gathering and permaculture skills and you can show us how a proper community is made! We can consider you for living with us permanently, be it all year round or every year for 3 to 7 or more months (your choice basically). Summers are great here, the place needs a lot of start up work to really be called a farm/homestead/community, but in our hearts it already is a communal place. We take it step by step and are not into developing a commercial business out of it any time soon. CURRENTLY: In order to offer a genuine invitation for people with good vibes AND to prevent us from having too much friction with other vibes… We want to step towards clarity about our shared human reality in how to deal with our ideas. Making sure we understand each others preferences is important. The more outspoken and up front people/visitors can be with us, the better we feel. Deeper perceptions about the differences between `vibes` are for us a necessary and almost daily routine. We will over time pose some scenarios to you and see how you feel about it. So you can get a sense of our being in comparison with your being. We ask for your understanding, responsibility and patience in these matters as these scenarios have taken 22 years in our hearts and minds to develop. Good energy and conscious human beings are the future and we should honor them. We are calm enough to let any issue come up and be open and be outspoken enough to allow people to choose their own experiences and how they do or do not relate to our family. The type of help/wwoofers, work-awayers we require and number of hours expected for work: Is 2 to 4 depending on the difficulty/heavy lifting and the conditions of the weather. Rules about phone use: There is some solar power, but no cellular reception available, so, that would be limited. Whether smoking is permitted: Limited, prefer to be kept away from us and the children. The type of food/meals provided and whether we can cater to vegetarians or not: Chilean shops are primitive, not so much choice, though the answer (over time) is yes. Most certainly when we get our greenhouses up and running. Are children or pets allowed? Depends on their needs and behavior, yes! Distance to local shop and internet: We have a car (1 to 2 hour travel time at the minimum). Directions and methods of transport available to travel to your location: Same answer, you can try to get (bus) rides all the way from Santiago or hitch-hike. In town I can pick you up by car or you can arrange a lift from a farmer in town. Places of local interest that helpers may wish to visit during their free time: Patagonia wilderness in every direction. Fishing, hunting, trekking, going to the lake, up the mountain etc. Over time more resources will become available. Any important new info we will add to this text when similar questions come up. Limited internet speed and locations, so do not expect direct and fast responses at all times. Imagine an almost untouched valley with lots of nature and small trails. The property is ‘limited’ in size, about 3.5 and 8.5 hectares, though extra big land strips close to the rivers, farmers and lake are open to the (limited) public for camping and guerrilla gardening etc. It is legal in Chile to camp for free there on the waters edge. If you are inspired by our idea of going back to basic and have focus, put our information on a flyer and hang it up in alternative areas for free thinkers, investors and artist to see, that would be great. We hope to attract the right types of guests to make the place shine with depth & soul. In the future we are planning to build something resembling a castle and play around it with multiple big happy families :) Come discover our ideas and your possibilities there! Thanks for reading, we hope you enjoy the dream. CURRENT ACTIVITIES: Planning to stay on the property till late April. Fishing (legal from November onward, though local workers/people, don´t always follow the fishing rules and that means less fish depending on the season/year). Spending calm private time alone to feel the forest and adapt to nature is important. Priority Jobs: Cabins and/or Earth-ship builder, someone experienced working with wood, stone, cement, limited tools etc and still able to construct a structure that lasts for years. Can be a small unit and/or larger communal structure. Permaculture designer. CURRENT WORK OPTIONS: Clearing the top ridge of the hill to where the main building will be placed. Building new & maintaining older shelters. Building composting toilet, greenhouse, chicken-coup, safe enough to guard the chicken from ferret and local ferral dogs. Strong enough to last through Patagonian winters. Child care, teaching language, game time. Creating new ideas/designs where to expand first with a system you know from experience, that works well in those areas. Making small wood & other vegetation piles, land maintenance. Chopping wood, chainsaw & ax work, wheelbarror, storage. Local area clearing, digging and filling trenches made by heavy consistent rains. Fencing and road repair. Clearing dead wood, stones and organic matter, removing brush with stingers. Leveling ground surfaces with gravel. Digging irrigation ditch. Water management, small dam and water tubing infrastructure. Mixing & collecting the elements for fertile soil, like dried up animal droppings :) Making raised beds & fill them up. Planting some seeds and potato’s that work well in that climate without much maintenance. Creating some art work with dead animal bones, wire & wood? :) Woodcraft prep work, timber & lumber for the larger somewhat more professional cabin & communal home. Digging out the hill side to use the vertical wall as the major support wall the larger structures. Land-winning by filling holes on the river bank that are washed out, use rocks. Collecting/managing the out of control bamboo. Going for a ride to collect other building materials & food. Fixing ribbed clothing. Sharpening tools. Retrieve nails from used wood. Fill sand bags. Fill areas with cement, creating a solid floor or walls. Fill car tires. Fishing & trapping. Help our friends and local farmers in return for good food supply, various tasks available. We share similar goal settling with a group of people in the Northern & Eastern areas of Europe. Any people open to have us visit there are welcome to contact us about this as well. If you know people of similar intentions that would like to travel or have us visit, let us know. Greetings and Love, Flora, John, the child Mjolnir, some friends and maybe 2 hours per week of goverment assisted, curated, carefully regulated toxic father son time with Greg :) [email protected]
