What we do

Mahalo is an intentional community and evolving village in Southern Vermont, rooted in connection—with the land, with each other, and with life itself.

Home to artists, healing practitioners, builders, and farmers / permaculturists, Mahalo is a place where people come together to co-create a regenerative, joyful way of living. The land includes a mix of shared housing, tiny homes, and gathering spaces on 3.5 acres in Brattleboro.

At the heart of Mahalo is the Temple—a beautiful, hand-crafted structure that hosts ecstatic dances, art rituals, contact improv, yoga, and other kinds of community celebrations. The Temple is both a sacred space and a venue for creative expression, available for Airbnb stays and group events.

Mahalo is a place to learn, build, and grow. Residents host and participate in “learn-by-doing” projects focused on permaculture, natural building, food preservation, herbalism, and community resilience.

We value non violent communication, authentic relating, mutual support, and honoring diverse expressions of life. While not everyone shares the same beliefs or practices, we aim to live in a way that uplifts one another and regenerates the ecosystems we’re part of.

Whether you’re here as a long-term resident or a short-term guest, Mahalo is a place to plug into creative culture, care for the Earth, and contribute to something larger than yourself.
