What we do

Lampa Mountain Community was founded over 40 years ago by three friends who wanted to spend the rest of their lives living in community, exploring the upside potentials of long-lasting, committed friendship together. Since then, the group has grown into a thriving community of close friends. We live together, work together, and wholeheartedly support each other. Our experience has confirmed our original belief: Community is an ideal context for personal and spiritual growth and dedicated humanity service. It has also revealed wonders of human friendship beyond our expectations—and we’re still discovering more.

We realized early on that we would never achieve the group harmony and unity we hoped for unless each of us did our best to free ourselves from self-centered, egoistic thinking and attitudes. Only then could we avoid the inevitable conflict, jealousies, and resentments that result from people’s attachment to their own plans and ideas. Loving beyond ego has become a fundamental principle of our lives, and we are grateful for every bit of progress we’ve made. It has allowed us to achieve levels of cooperation, harmony, trust, and unity of heart that are rarely seen.

Our Vision

We are here to live a life of love. We’ve learned that it takes a lot of personal love, and real commitment over time, to bring up and heal the deepest parts of someone’s heart. We want to be that kind of love for each other, and extend it wherever it’s welcome. We’re here to provide one another the togetherness and support we each need to grow humanly and spiritually, and to discover and express who we truly are. And we want to show the world an example of what is possible for human beings when the conditions for it are fulfilled: a fully human life that is cooperative, loyal, inspired, dynamic, and vibrantly alive.

How to join

Our community is a close-knit intentional family of friends who plan to spend the rest of our lives together. Therefore, our membership process is simply the natural, unstructured process of becoming friends. If over time a friendship becomes close enough, and the affinity between us is strong enough, living together becomes an option to consider, together.

Basic expectations or agreements for members
