What we do

Your cohousing dollars really do go further at Heartwood Commons – Tulsa. We’ve just reduced prices up to $31,000 on our remaining homes. Now, more than ever, community matters. Join people from across the country who call Heartwood Commons home.

Heartwood Commons is a vibrant, progressive cohousing community for active adults in one of our country’s most livable cities. Tulsa features a friendly, small town feel with all the amenities of a larger city, and an affordable, low cost of living.

We are a friendly, engaged group of proactive adults who have created Tulsa’s first cohousing community. We value connection and sustainability, acceptance and diversity, health and wellness, and fun and support.

Our community features 36 right-sized private homes with a common house and desirable amenities – all designed to promote a healthy lifestyle, accessibility, and social connections for successful maturing. We are a block from the riverfront, and close to parks, walking and hiking trails, shopping and health care.

Available homes include 2-bedroom/1 bath/1,000 sq ft and 2-bedroom/1.5 bath/1,200 sq ft homes starting at $429,900.

Our new, one-story homes include an open floor plan, large windows for abundant natural light, quality kitchens, accessible bathrooms, generous storage, and large front and back porches. Each home utilizes geothermal energy and other energy saving features, is fire sprinkled, and includes storm protection.

Our common house offers shared meals, celebrations, activities, guest accommodations, a creative studio, outdoor gatherings, and more.

We also offer a community garden, dog park, recycling, composting, walking paths, a fire pit, Monarch Waystation, and tool sharing. Arkansas River Parks walking/biking trails, Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area, and affordable state-of-the art exercise facilities are all close-by.

Tulsa is a progressive city located in the northeast corner of Oklahoma in the heart of “Green Country” where we enjoy 4 distinct seasons, rolling hills, abundant lakes and streams, great gardening, and year-round outdoor activities. Named one of our country’s most affordable place to live, Tulsa retains a friendly small town atmosphere while boasting world class art museums and full-time professional opera, ballet and theater companies. The Gathering Place (named USA Today’s most popular attraction) and Turkey Mountain Urban Wilderness Area top the county’s 139 area parks. We also feature a diverse, award winning music scene (Cain’s Ballroom, Woody Guthrie Center, Bob Dylan Archives, Oklahoma Museum of Popular Culture, BOK Center – top 10 live music venue); a growing national reputation among foodies and craft beer drinkers, four university campuses, and a revitalized Historic Route 66 – all in the middle of Indian Country (39 tribes call Oklahoma home).

Tulsans are known for their friendliness, a culture of philanthropy, and community engagement. A hot-bed for entrepreneurship attracts young professionals from across the country and keeps Tulsa an exciting, relevant, and engaging place to live.

More than 25% of Heartwood Commoners have moved here from across the country.
