****UPDATE 2025: I am no longer fully present on my property and have not had the time to invest in making this a fully fledged community. I am still open to co-creators here, but am not currently able to offer much support other than open land. If you are looking to start your own projects and can handle your own off-grid or rustic living conditions, please reach out still. My newly forming farm community has had a lot of work put into it already in efforts to create a sustainable homestead, and I am eager to share my space and resources with like-minded permaculturists and ecovillagers. My aim is to create a place that provides room for creativity for nature-loving individuals, with shared responsibilities for permaculture activities for both food production and the betterment of the ecosystem, minimal financial burden for residents, and a social, joyful, natural lifestyle. I would like to find active co-creators in what the space and projects here could look like. My loftier goals include food forests, regenerative agriculture, community-supported agriculture, herbal medicine gardens, rewilding/reforesting and more. I’m very open to ideas, and would like this situation to benefit everyone involved. My 10-acre piece of land is a lovely countryside spot with woods, pastures, a small pond and creek. I’ve already set up a variety of small-scale permaculture projects, including raised bed and row gardens, rainwater harvesting systems, a small Nubian dairy goat herd with llama companion, beehives, a chicken coop, and my custom built cottagecore yurt that I would like to run as an AirBnB to financially support the property. There are other outbuildings as well (stable, barn, workshop, sheds). I have knowledge and resources to continue to invest in the property and new projects, just not enough time. I have a water well and on-grid electricity hooked up on one side of the property and am currently setting up another utility site on the other side of the property, where there is room for multiple tiny homes or portable living spaces that community members can bring with them (UPDATE – some space is now occupied, and I would like to slowly add additional prospective members after spending some time talking and visiting the community, and seeing what additional infrastructure is necessary to support future move-ins). I am also supportive of building other residences and structures with alternative ecofriendly methods (e.g., straw bale, cob, earthbag). I use graywater recycling systems and composting toilets. Animals are also welcome, including larger animals like horses in certain areas.
To create a hospitable space for people to live in community with wildlife and each other.
Initially, I would like to talk in depth with prospective members about their interest in joining, their experience with small-scale agriculture and natural living, their potential housing needs, the amount of time they could contribute to projects on site, and other topics, before inviting them to visit and potentially contribute here. Membership processes will change upon growth of the community.
