Forest Glen at Highland Lake’s vision is to create an intentional neighborhood that demonstrates a strong ethic of environmental sustainability and stewardship, following building and living practices that support rather than destroy Nature’s ecological systems. Feeling part of a supportive community is of utmost importance to our mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual wellbeing. In order to foster meaningful relationships and a sense of belonging and connectedness, we strive to be open-minded and mutually respectful, employ communication and decision-making practices that are inclusive and appreciative of each individual’s unique contribution to the whole, and participate in collaborative work projects, play, and celebrations.
Located in the natural beauty of Flat Rock, NC, we’re creating an intergenerational cohousing community based on shared values and supportive relationships.
First become Explorer members for a minimum of two months (maximum of three months), then move up to Equity members with a commitment to purchase a home.
Decisions proceed unless someone has a reasoned objection.
Members maintain separate personal finances with minimal sharing.
