About the Community

What we do

We are a coalition of communitarians, activists, artists, DIY-ers, students (and non-students!), and so much more. We are dedicated to community living and participating collectively in the success of our homes. We highly value housing justice and aim to be a safer space for Black and Indigenous people, people of color, international students, people with disabilities, neurodivergent people, housing insecure folks, and queer and trans people. Our co-op functions under a legal nonprofit, the Students Cooperative Association, which is a consensus-based organization governed exclusively by members in the houses: WE OWN IT! Because we do not have landlords, we are each responsible for the upkeep of our home and wider nonprofit. This means it is all the more important we each contribute and care collectively for our space. Our homes have access to a social justice library, endless craft supplies, and beautiful outdoor spaces. Members have their own rooms with access to furniture if desired. We compost, recycle, and always try to buy sensory friendly and fragrance-free house products. Housemates prepare up to 6 weekly house dinners according to the dietary needs of current members in one of three industrial kitchens. We sometimes eat family-style, sharing food and tales of our days. After dinner, we love to watch movies on our projector, hang out in the yards, or have quiet work parties.

Our Mission

We seek to provide affordable housing to marginalised groups while furthering social justice agendas.
