We are now in the forming stage with the goal to unite, co-create, acquire land and move to begin work together in the near future. The vision and design will be based in permaculture, including the 3 ethics of earth care (rebuild natural capital), people care (look after self and community), and fair share (set limits and redistribute surplus). Our experience is based on time and research into community living. We like the ecovillage model with separate residences and shared common spaces, and have a vision of a rural location outside Eugene (Oregon), ideally with up to 25 members including many children, surrounded by nature. People care: – Goal of inner & outer peace. – Defined process for conflict resolution. – Highly encourage personal development practices (aka inner ecology). – Common spaces – Common house to include co-working space, kitchen, guest rooms, cafe, game/play area, meeting/event space. Other shared spaces: Yoga/wellness area, workshop with tool sharing, art studio, kids playground, sauna and natural pool. – Healthy living – shared meals to be plant based, organic, minimally processed, refined sugar free. – Drug and smoke free. – Animals living on the land to be respected and allowed to live as good of a life as freely as possible. Possible refuge for limited number of farm animals. – Diversity embraced, would like a diverse range of people in ages and backgrounds, respectful of all (or no) spiritual beliefs. – Value interaction and cooperation (optional shared meals weekly), monthly meeting, communal decision making process. – Home school friendly, creation of forest school onsite open to non-residents. – Technology is embraced for education, work, and other essential needs. Shared wired high speed satellite internet available during waking hours, no WiFi due to social and possible health impacts (including respect for those with EMF sensitivity). Phone use discouraged and “airplane mode” use encouraged in common spaces to promote social interaction and minimize technology dependence. Earth care: – Natural/regenerative construction methods (ie cob, straw bale, eco tiny houses), mindful of resource use. – Permaculture garden – Goal of 100% fruit and vegetable production onsite for residents and also for future sale (excluding seeds, nuts, grains) 50% total self sufficiency target. No spray, veganic garden. – Likely off grid – appropriate technology and limited resource use – ie compost toilets and humanure, water catchment/potable sources onsite, PV electricity, biogas. – Serving as an educational model for regenerative living. – Natural/handmade cleaning products mandatory for grey water treatment and use (ie castile soap, soap nuts, vinegar, essential oils, baking soda). – Dedicated parking lot away from residences, car sharing options. Fair share: – Site for hosting tours, workshops, and events. – Weekend cafe open to public. – Possibility of collective and/or individual enterprises. – Farm stand & CSA. We value compassion, personal growth, openness, international diversity, care and cleanliness. We are looking to co-create a vision with others. Please reach out if this speaks to you! <3
