About the Community

What we do

Imagine a neighborhood where single family homes and villas with porches in the front so you can say hi to your neighbors as you walk by. You can enjoy having beautiful community gardens and greenspaces with room to be outdoors and enjoy the company of others in common areas. Consider a neighborhood where differences are valued, respected, and treasured. Think what it would be like to live in a place where friends are neighbors and neighbors are friends. So, what does it look like? A small and affordable universally-designed neighborhood (20-40 homes) that facilitates working together to intentionally plan the space and amenities to be accessible by all. Retain your privacy but know there are people to hang out with and things to do where you have interests in common. Our Values: Intentional Neighboring Collaborating with people of diverse ages, abilities and family structures, we commit ourselves to creating and maintaining a sustainable neighborhood that is safe, accessible and caring for all residents; a space where everyone feels a sense of belonging. Different is Good/Compassion is Key No matter the ability level, One Kin Roof embraces everyone. All neighbors have a right to be respected, included, and appreciated as valuable members of the neighborhood. [deleted the rest of the statement] Honesty and Trust The foundation to any good relationship is trust. We view our neighbors as lifelong supportive friends. We value working together to find solutions, even when we agree to disagree. Collaboration/Cooperation Through mutual appreciation, generosity, sharing, and flexibility, we will live cooperatively with one another. Participation We value sharing the load and the merging of ideas. Participation is critical to the success of intentional co-housing communities (Private homes clustered around community spaces). Each of us chooses how to give of oneself and the energy brought forward.

Our vision is a living and learning neighborhood that values inclusion, belonging, and purpose for people of all backgrounds, abilities, and age groups.
