Consensus for Cooperative Groups

Building Solidarity by Accessing Group Wisdom & Commitment

REGISTER NOW

Join intentional community consultant and trainer, Yana Ludwig, for a 2-part intensive training on what consensus means in a community context and how to reach highly committed agreements with your group.

Consensus sounds great on paper…but many groups struggle to actually build inclusive decision-making systems.

This interactive workshop presents the ideal cultural framework for consensus building, practical structures for container building, and guidance for how to make it work in reality. As a group, we will engage in a mixture of training on consensus methods and real-time applications through breakout groups and exercises.

Key outcomes of this training:

  • What consensus is…and what it isn’t
  • Understanding the importance of culture and what cooperative culture means
  • Understanding the appropriate use for blocking and how to test for legitimate blocks
  • A framework for implementing consensus with the best chance to work well

“The instructor was so knowledgeable and experienced and the material was so informative. I really appreciated Yana’s openness and her desire to answer any questions and share any information she has and to find what she doesn’t. I thought the topics covered and the order they were presented to be well done. Thank you!”

Loved by Community Builders

This course was a great way to connect with others and feel less isolated in my experiences. It also offered insights into identities I don’t inhabit that will help me understand others more and be a better ally. – Fatima H.

What a beautiful gift to our intentional community builders and leaders! FIC’s programs provide a way for thinking and concerned people to collaborate for solutions to our multitude of global crises. Thank you FIC! – Terri Garcia

I am constantly impressed by the down-to-earth practicality of the FIC workshops combined with the philosophical questions that are so vital for us to explore. I’m grateful for the excellent planning and delivery of the workshops by skilled and inclusive presenters, who create a space that is both welcoming and invites participants to challenge existing ideas and world views. Well done and thank you FIC. – Claire Ogden
