What we do

SEEKING:  Cooperative, Inter-Generational, Shared Housing Arrangement.  I am an especially educated, professional man holding a lovely home alone in Takoma Park, Md, thirty minutes from the White House, now in early retirement after a long career mostly overseas in the international aid industry.  This spring 2026 I am seeking suitably interested and compatible applicants who would like to enter into a longer-term, cooperative, inter-generational housing arrangement.  Prospective parties would generally be younger citizens, possibly young professionals or also in the service, tradecrafts,  arts industry or aspiring digital workers, getting savvy about and established in the world, ecologically and spiritually appreciative.  Some domestic home and yard care, socially conversant, IT/ and canine care aptitudes and experiences would be valuable.   My 3 bedroom home is full of lovely art pieces from all over the world, has a lovely back deck where one can barbeque and hold social fires while there is an attractive, easy to manage yard.  Located @1 mile from the Takoma Park Metro Redline @30 mins away from the White House.  One bedroom downstairs with a (kinda small) trundle bed and primary claim to a second bathroom with shower as well as access to a shared study—great for working–would be your primary space, but you will have access to, and expected to help me look after, the entire house.  Not a lot of storage space beyond clothes could easily be provided.  The idea behind such a subsidized, longer-term housing arrangement is interested applicants will live independently while also responsibly able to help me look after regular—and pretty easy!–home, yard care, shopping, periodically shared cooking and dog care needs while we are living there or during my travel absences which could be as much as@30% of the year when you would have, and would have to be responsible for, managing the entire house.  Monthly, subsidized rent prospects would range from @$600-$1,000 month which includes all utilities.  Interested applicants should send me a letter of interest —[email protected]–introducing themselves and citing how they feel they could be a suitable, responsible fit for contributing to such an inter-generational, cooperative housing arrangement.  Please also provide rental, personal or work references.   References would be expected and likely start date would be April or May 2026 for at least a six month and preferably appreciably longer eventually extending into a 12-36 month arrangement.  Finalists will be contacted and, if possible asked to come to the house, likely later April or May, for us to meet and get to know each other. Any particular questions, please cite them in your letter of interest.

Our Vision

To Be Determined and Developed/Under Production: I have studied about and taken some eco-village tours recently, attractive to the reciprocal nature of socially, ecologically and spiritually congruent and inter-generational living opportunities and mean to foster such an experience in my own home.
