Pilgrim Place is an intentional, caring multi-level senior living community striving to be socially responsible; environmentally responsible; diverse in race, ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, and religion; and committed to excellence in health care and developing services that foster meaningful growth and dignity for all who live, work, and volunteer here.
Pilgrim Place, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, is a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC). A CCRC is a class of retirement community where a continuum of aging care needs – independent living, assisted living, memory care, and skilled nursing care – are offered.
Pilgrim Place was founded in 1915 by the Congregational Church as the Claremont Missionary Home, a residence for missionaries and their families, located at what is now Scripps College. In 1924, we moved to our current, 32-acre park-like location 30 miles east of Los Angeles, California. In more recent years, we have come to be a community of retired service-oriented professions (not-for-profit leaders, theologians and clerics, educators, healthcare) from international and domestic settings.
We have:
185 Private Residential Living residences including individual homes, duplexes, triplexes and apartments, ranging in size from 600 to 1,800 square feet
57 Assisted Living apartments for single persons and couples (available only to residents moving from Independent Living)
12 Memory Care beds in private and semi-private rooms
62 Skilled Nursing beds, and beds for patients receiving short-term rehabilitation services, in private and semi-private rooms with priority access offered to Pilgrim Place residents
