Rainbow Koala Farm is a small, lakeside farm with a herd of tiny Nigerian goats, acres of woods, vegetable gardens and space for more.
In addition to farming vegetables, we grow and sell house plants. We also trap invasive Green Crabs, hoping to make a small impact on the Casco Bay ecosystem. We use the crabs to fertilize our gardens and sell them as chicken feed. With more people in our community, we hope to increase what we can do with our goats and farm, including ideas our new members may bring.
Our current location is convenient to town, recreational and cultural opportunities. The space is child-friendly with lots of space for them to explore. Our kids are involved in local schools, sports teams, and the nearby youth center/indoor skate park. Adults have plenty to do with farm projects, goats to feed, crabbing, plus working together to develop new projects.
We currently have two adults and two children living on the farm full time, plus one to five farm volunteers through WWOOF. We focus not only on our farm, but in providing mutual aid and support to the broader community.
Our mission is to provide sustainable supported living for disabled, or neurodivergent folks. We do this via providing a space for our membership of disabled, queer and neurodiverse folks who are looking to participate in community and live sustainably here. We focus not just on providing mutual support to each other here but also providing mutual aid and support to the larger disabled community. We engage with political and social efforts to combat climate change as part of our sustainability efforts.
