What we do

The idea of the Hoofing It Home Foundation came about after combining all of my passions into one. The forming community will offer eco-friendly housing, businesses, youth programs, animal rescue, and fundraising for animals and youth organizations outside of the community.

Housing will be custom Cal-Earth creations in which people will live together, but with privacy. Agriculture, Bee Keeping, Fishing and Hunting Guided trips, Art, and Naturopathic Medicine are a few of the founding businesses to be formed. Transportation will be shared with Hoofing It Home vehicles and with the use of horses. We will take you into a slower existence where you can stop to smell the roses, but with tons of activities, excitement, and work to keep your life interesting and with purpose. Every member will be required to work within the community, but we also understand vacation is important so we allotted time for that as well.

The purpose of this community is not to segregate from the world, rather it is to live in a harmony within the world while living an alternative lifestyle closer to the earth and nature. Hoofing It Home will create opportunities for those within the community to participate with those outside the community regularly through youth programs, wildlife rehabilitation and park center, and various businesses. Hoofing It Home aspires to create a world where like-minded members can live amongst one another living the dream and inspiring the surrounding community and world to pursue their own dreams and lives.

The Ride of Passage is the fundraiser for Hoofing It Home Foundation as a 2000+ mile horseback ride through Arizona, Colorado, Wyoming, South Dakota, Minnesota, and Wisconsin. Cera Davidson and her fiance, Colonel Lightfoot will be riding on horseback to spread the word and collect donations for not only the foundation, but to grant the wish of a terminally ill child.

In pursuing our own dreams, we want others to pursue theirs. The Hoofing It Home Foundation leads by example in assisting others reach and obtain their dreams as well.

Our Vision

The specific purpose for which the Hoofing It Home Foundation is formed is to create a self-sustaining intentional community of people who will live and participate in activities directed to the enrichment of the human experience and provide resources to support children and animals.

Illinois’ first cohousing community fosters intergenerational connection, diversity, and inclusiveness. We welcome all those who share our vision of creating a sustainable residential community in a vibrant urban suburb. Oak Park Commons Cohousing seeks new members. Join the dozen households that have already helped plan and design a five story, 24-unit building near the commercial heart of Oak Park, Illinois. The building includes a mix of one, two, and three, bedroom ADA accessible units. A package friendly first floor mailroom adjoins the lobby, elevator, and parking entrances. Noise mitigation and energy efficient air conditioning assure year-round comfort. The Carpenter & Madison streets corner location includes within a pedestrian friendly half mile radius: a middle school, bus stop, grocery co-op, drug store, bank, CTA train station, Unity Temple, Rush Hospital, Fox Park, Mills Park, and many restaurants. Madison has traffic calming and bike lanes. The Village commercial center, barely a mile away offers the Lake Theatre Cinema, Trader Joes, Whole Foods, Formula Fitness Center, Public Library, Frank Lloyd Wright Home and Studio, and specialty retail and service shops. Oak Park includes excellent K-12 schools. Lincoln public elementary school offers an optional Spanish bilingual program, Gwendolyn Brooks middle school’s wonderful performing arts opportunities and OPRF high school’s great college and career prep.
