About the Community

What we do

Cultivate community, create a harmonious space, and put your hands in the garden at our beautiful Victorian house close to downtown. We value positive energy, clear and open communication, sustainability, permaculture gardening, cleanliness and healthy eating.
We are urban homesteaders. We grow dozens of different vegetables, fruits and flowers throughout our property-wide garden with a lovely pond, a large private backyard with a fire pit, and a great front porch for sunsets, conversation, and afternoon naps. We have laundry and some work space out back in our carriage house. We prefer to use the clothesline when it’s sunny.

We keep a clean house and are looking for a conscientious housemate who will participate and be involved in caring for the house and garden. You would be living with 3 others. We’re looking for a mature (regardless of age) person to join us and help shape our community by your presence.

We’re welcoming, LGBTQ+ friendly, laid back, creative and cooperative. We take care of our garden, our home, and one another—sharing meals, respecting one another’s differences and celebrating our shared interests.

This is a unique and charming house. There are 3 bedrooms and a nice bath upstairs as well as a small sitting area. Another bedroom, an office room, and bath are on the main floor. Both bathrooms have big bathtubs and the upstairs bath has a heated floor.

Great location: Congress Park, 13th and Detroit. Safe neighborhood with minimal traffic and free street parking on our block. Easy access to downtown. Walking distance to three parks, shops, restaurants, Cheesman Park, SIE film society cinema, Tattered Cover, Botanic Gardens, bus lines.

420 friendly. No tobacco. We want a cat. No dogs.

Rent is $850/mo. plus $50 for utilities and high speed internet.

If you love to garden, want to live sustainably and create community, live in a clean and beautiful house and help keep it that way, and if you want to live with other kind, responsible, spiritually conscious and healthy people, contact us.

We are excited to be urban homesteading and want someone who enjoys that.

Communication, collaboration and participation are the keys to community.

We want considerate people who will consider this their home and share in cleaning, gardening and care taking. We meet as a community on a regular basis.

There’s no TV here ( we do watch movies together sometimes). We’re an organic household; we like healthy food, mostly vegetarian, and share some meals. We are relaxed, friendly and easy going.

This is an opportunity to practice living in community and creating a happy cooperative household as well as participating with gardening and nutritious meals.

How people relate to each other and how they reciprocate is the basis of any society. We change the world by changing how we relate. Interactions based on kindness create peace.
